QUEENS CRAVINGS

A digital cookbook celebrating Black-owned restaurants

Queens tourist attraction Unisphere, located in Flushing Meadows Park

INTRODUCTION

Growing up in Queens means being surrounded by a lot of culture, a lot of opportunity, and a lot of food. New Yorkers are loyal to their favorite local restaurants, and will put everyone on to the best spots. With 2020 shining a spotlight on black-owned businesses, a lot of people are looking for new local places to eat.

I decided the best way to commemorate these restaurants was to make a cookbook! Each restaurant featured on Queens Cravings has contributed a recipe from their menu and a look into how the owner’s culture affects the food they serve.

It is crucial that we support black-owned businesses, and the best way to start is with the food on our plates. This is more than a cookbook. It is a love letter to Queens and the restaurants that we cannot live without.
